G.F. Strong School Program

Provided by Vancouver Coastal Health

A program designed to help students with neurological impairments with their education.
The GF Strong School Program is a Provincial Resource Program that seeks to meet the educational needs of students with neurological impairments sustained through injury or illness. The G F Strong School Program staff work primarily as part of the interdisciplinary team on the Adolescent and Young Adult Program (AYA), however, also serve all inpatients who meet our mandate.
There are four components to the program:

  • Academic assessment
  • Academic remediation
  • Academic programming with B.C. Ministry of Education curriculum
  • School reintegration/return planning/facilitation

  • Professional Development (providing workshops, conferences, and creating educational materials) to create positive learning environments conducive to our students’ inclusion needs is an important role for G.F. Strong School Program staff.

Referral Information: All inpatients admitted to G.F. Strong, who meet the mandate, have access to the G.F. Strong School Program. Outpatients admitted to the Adolescent and Young Adult Program may be referred to the G.F. Strong School Program based on the goals of their outpatient program. Referrals accepted by phone or fax.
